Bobeche is a basement cocktail bar responsible for crafting some of the best drinks in the Perth CBD. Our focus: top spirits, classic libations and our famous teapot punch. Open 4pm 'til late, with happy hour daily. Unwind after work, make a night of it or stop in for a cheeky night-cap. Bar food comes straight from the kitchen of our upstairs sister venue and one-hatted restaurant, The Heritage Wine Bar.

How to Make the

Perfect

Old Fashioned

FROM THE BARTENDERS

One of the ultimate classic cocktails and one of our Bobeche favourites. With a great collection of whisk(e)y, we take pride in making this one using the base of your choice ... and always with a substantial, single block of ice.  This is our favourite way to make it ...

INGREDIENTS

  • 50ml Woodford Reserve Bourbon

  • 10ml Demerara sugar syrup

  • 3 dashes of our Bobeche house bitters  (a blend of Angostura Bitters, Regan Orange Bitters, Fee Brothers Black Walnut Bitters and Whiskey Barrel Bitters)

  • Orange peel for garnish

RECIPE

  • Chill whiskey glass and a mixing glass with ice, even better if you've kept it in the fridge or freezer.

  • Prepare orange twist using a peeler, trim for presentation. Roll the strip into a spiral and give a gentle squeeze.

  • Add bourbon, sugar syrup and bitters to chilled mixing glass. Add ice and stir gently to dilute. Taste to test for dilution, you're looking for how the heat of alcohol and flavours flavours come together. Take care not to over dilute as the ice you serve over will continue the dilution.

  • Serve over good quality ice, our preference is one large block.

  • Garnish with your orange twist for that telltale hint of orange oil.
